Place Value Orienteering in Primary 5
16th Sep 2025
Primary 5 took their maths learning outdoors this week for a fun place value orienteering challenge! Working in pairs, the children searched the playground to find 12 hidden number cards, each showing a number up to 10,000.
Once they found a card, the challenge really began — they had to record the number in standard form, write it in words and then break it down into expanded form. This meant lots of running, lots of thinking and plenty of teamwork!
The children worked enthusiastically, showed great cooperation with their partners and enjoyed putting their place value skills into action in such an active way. It was a fantastic way to combine learning and fun!
